Employment Requirements and Renewal Eligibility

For a Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) renewal application, at the time of submission the applicant must already be employed or have established or be participating in a business in Hong Kong. The employed position must normally be one held by a degree holder, and the remuneration and benefits package must be at market level. If establishing or participating in a business in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the applicant must provide supporting business documents. Each extension of stay is granted for no more than three years, or until the expiry of the employment contract, whichever is shorter. If the applicant qualifies under the top-tier talent category, an extension of stay of no more than six years may be granted.

Residence Proof and Strategies to Avoid a Lapsed Visa

The applicant must be physically present in the HKSAR when submitting the application, and must provide proof that satisfies the Immigration Department that they have settled in Hong Kong, such as a proof of residential address. To avoid a lapsed visa, the applicant should submit the extension of stay application at least four weeks before the visa expires, and ensure all supporting documents are complete, including the employment contract, proof of residential address and business proof, among others. At the same time, the applicant must maintain the qualifying employed or business status for three years after activating the visa, and promptly update the Immigration Department of any required changes.
